Thomas Cluderay serves as the National Wildlife Federation’s general counsel, overseeing NWF's complex legal affairs with a deep commitment to supporting the mission. He leads NWF's legal team and advises on a wide range of topics pertaining to nonprofit operations, as well as partners with key stakeholders on compliance, risk management, and governance activities. Thomas also works closely with the People Team to advise on employment law matters and supports NWF’s broader efforts to advance equity and justice.
Thomas has extensive in-house experience representing nonprofits, principally in the environmental and conservation space. Prior to joining NWF, first as deputy general counsel, Thomas served as associate general counsel for the Aspen Institute. He also has served as general counsel for the nonprofit partner of Yellowstone National Park and Environmental Working Group.
Thomas earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. While at law school, he was a law fellow for Rep. Walt Minnick in the U.S. House of Representatives. He also has B.A. in journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he was a Morehead Scholar. Outside of work, Thomas is active in the Association of Corporate Counsel. His other interests include nature photography, backpacking, and guitar.
