NWF Water Coalitions

From the Chesapeake Bay to the Everglades, there are a number of coalitions dedicated to restoring and protecting America’s Great Waters that the National Wildlife Federation leads or is a member of.

Choose Clean Water Coalition: Since 2010 the Choose Clean Water Coalition has been harnessing the collective power of more than 240 groups to advocate for clean rivers and streams in all communities in the Chesapeake Bay region. By coordinating policy, messaging, action, and accountability, the Coalition is able to speak louder with one voice toward our collective goal - clean water.

Clean Water for All Coalition: The Clean Water for All is a broad coalition of organizations working to elevate the importance of clean water for everyone through strategic national and regional campaigns that engage people, build our collective political power, and influence decision-makers to create equitable policies.

Coalition for Delaware River Watershed: The Coalition for the Delaware River Watershed was formed in 2012 to raise awareness of the river and its surrounding landscape by bringing together groups already working to restore degraded resources, safeguard vulnerable assets, and educate their communities. The Coalition brings together nongovernmental organizations working throughout the Delaware River Watershed to share information, leverage resources, and coordinate efforts and advocacy.

Everglades Coalition: The Everglades Coalition is an alliance of more than sixty local, state and national conservation and environmental organizations dedicated to full restoration of the Greater Everglades Ecosystem, from the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes into Lake Okeechobee and to the estuaries, through the River of Grass, out to Florida Bay and the Keys.

Healing Our Waters-Great Lakes Coalition: Since its inception in 2004, The Healing Our Waters-Great Lakes Coalition’s mission is to secure a sustainable Great Lakes restoration plan and the federal funding to implement it. Healthy lakes and healthy people go hand in hand. The Healing Our Waters-Great Lakes Coalition will endeavor to make our work more relevant and impactful by ensuring that the people of the region have access to clean, affordable, and safe drinking water; can eat fish that are not toxic; and are able to live healthy lives that are not undermined by pollution.

Healthy Headwaters Alliance: The Healthy Headwaters Alliance is a network of western water innovators, including water utility executives, federal land managers, scientists, community and water justice leaders, and conservation professionals who share a commitment to equitable, science-based actions to build resilience back into the critical forested, headwaters of the West’s streams and rivers.

Mississippi River Delta Coalition: Restore the Mississippi River Delta is a coalition of Environmental Defense Fund, National Audubon Society, the National Wildlife Federation, Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana, and Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation. Together, we are working to rebuild coastal Louisiana’s nationally-significant landscape to protect people, wildlife and jobs.

Texas Living Waters Project: The Texas Living Waters Project advocates for forward-thinking water management so that Texas communities and wildlife can thrive in this uncertain future. Together with its partners, the Lone Star Chapter of the Sierra Club and Galveston Bay Foundation, the National Wildlife Federation brings together water policy, science, and education experts to build a future with fresh water for every living thing.

Water Protection Network: The Water Protection Network, which is a coalition of national, regional and local organizations working to ensure that America’s water policies and projects are environmentally and economically sound. We work to achieve our vision of water resource planning that utilizes natural and economically sustainable methods and protects and restores our rivers, coasts, and wetlands for people and wildlife.
