Mike Saccone serves at the Vice President for Communications where he leads the National Wildlife Federation’s strategic communications planning and execution in support of the organization’s policy and advocacy goals. Mike directs the Federation’s national communications team based across the country and leads the organization’s public relations, executive and crisis communications, corporate communications, and internal communications.

Prior to joining the National Wildlife Federation, Mike worked for more than a decade at the intersection of communications and public policy and advocacy. He served as communications directors for the nonprofit Keystone Policy Center, U.S. Senator Mark Udall (D-Colo.), and Colorado Attorney General John Suthers (R-Colo.). Prior to his career in communications, Mike worked as a journalist at The Daily Sentinel in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Mike is a graduate of Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. He is a lifelong outdoorsman, avid hiker and kayaker, and amateur birder. He lives in Maryland with his wife and son.
