Heather Davis Miller serves as the Senior Advisor for Strategy and Leadership. In this role, she is the executive staff person responsible for developing the strategic direction for NWF as well as formalizing and implementing the Federation’s approach to partnerships, movement building, and community conservation in concert with our strategic imperatives and priorities. As strategic advisor for the Federation, she is focused on strategy formulation, portfolio management, and leading the development, implementation, integration & operationalization, as well as oversight and tracking of the Federation’s strategic initiatives.
Davis Miller brings to this leadership role immense experience in the development of strategic direction and initiatives from her previous role as Vice President of Strategic Partnerships. Her keen focus on community-based partnership development and movement building lends itself well to leading the Federation’s formulation of a Community Health and Wellbeing program that will be a community first focused conservation program. In working firsthand with the National Wildlife Federation’s affiliates, formerly as a Director of Conservation Partnerships also provides Davis Miller with the needed foundation on One Federation where our affiliates, our governing partners, are equally tied into the work of growing a true movement from the grassroots to the shoots. Davis Miller has also served as one of the National Wildlife Federation staff leading and supporting the Women in Conservation Leadership program where we will continue to see growth through the expansion of our premier leadership summit supporting the development of skills and capacity building for affiliates and partners alike. Lastly, and most importantly, she has been one of the leading advocates at the National Wildlife Federation for developing and implementing its equity and justice principles.
Davis Miller is a lifelong conservationist and previously led urban conservation policy programs for The Wilderness Society, Community Health Councils, and the U.S. Forest Service. She is southern California native who is a competitive open water swimmer, sprint and marathon kayaker currently living her best life on and off the water.
