Caroline Itoh

Senior Vice President for Operations and Technology

Caroline Itoh is the Senior Vice President for Operations and Technology. In this role, she leads a team of professionals who manage operations, technology, data, and security strategies for the National Wildlife Federation. Their work, and the systems and processes they manage, is the engine that drives the organization's ability to fundraise, inspire activists, showcase our programs online and protects our assets so the National Wildlife Federation can continue to operate for another 85 years and beyond.

After graduating from the University of Virginia, Itoh started her career in technology consulting for the banking industry. Missing the passion for wildlife and nature from her work, Itoh committed her career to applying the same strategies that businesses use to make money to instead drive donations, actions, and engagement for the wildlife cause. Starting in the planned giving team at National Wildlife Federation and holding a variety of roles in philanthropy, marketing, grassroots, and technology, Itoh has used process design, data, and technology to evolve and transform our work: from the first online action alert system to big data to the strategic plan. In her role as Senior Vice President, Itoh anchors the fast-paced world of emerging trends to a reality of effective implementation to drive true success for National Wildlife Federation's precious resources.

Itoh was born in London, United Kingdom, and grew up in Virginia and Perth, Australia. A dual citizen of the United States and the United Kingdom, Itoh currently lives in a small village in Wiltshire, United Kingdom. She has been leading teams remotely for the last 12 years and helped blaze a trail for remote working. Pushing the boundaries of technology and perfecting the discipline of keeping connected from a distance enables the National Wildlife Federation to recruit and retain top talent, and positioned the organization well for transitioning the entire workforce to remote during the COVID-19 pandemic. When Itoh is stateside, she can be found in her "homes away from home," Virginia and New Mexico.
