Our work for wildlife depends on a healthy, functioning democracy which requires the active, ongoing participation of its citizens. That means, wildlife need you to vote, volunteer, and engage in civic life in your communities in order to ensure that wildlife are protected and that our voices continue to have power in our democracy.
Over the last several years, a weakening of voter protection laws at the federal level has opened the door to state actions to limit equal access to the ballot and disinformation has eroded confidence in our elections. That’s why it is more important now than ever to take action and get involved.
Make sure you are registered to vote at your current address and vote in EVERY election. Use our voting toolkit to make a plan before election day for how you will vote and make sure your friends and family have a plan as well. Share accurate information about how to vote online to encourage participation in all elections – local, state, and national.

Pay attention to what’s happening in your community and look for opportunities to support policies that expand access to the ballot and protect the right to peacefully protest in your state or locality. Participation in democracy goes well beyond elections. Our government officials work for the citizens who they represent.
