Our independent state affiliates form the backbone of the National Wildlife Federation’s work on hunting and fishing issues, including setting our policies each year at our Annual Meeting. From the passage of the Pittman-Robertson Act in 1937 to the permanent reauthorization of the Land and Water Conservation Fund in 2019, our ability to collaborate through long-term, trusted partnerships with our affiliates has been critical to our success in achieving conservation victories for our fish and wildlife.
The National Wildlife Federation is a true federation that has brought together voices from across the conservation spectrum since our founding in 1936. Many of our affiliates are primarily focused on organization representing hunters and anglers in their states, often by employing the same affiliate structure we have in representing sportsmen’s and conservation clubs, and methods and species-specific groups of hunters and anglers.
The Alabama Wildlife Federation is the oldest and largest nonprofit conservation organization in Alabama. The federation was established by sportsmen in 1935 to promote the conservation and wise use of wildlife and natural resources, and to ensure a high quality of life for future generations of Alabamians.
